Before you reset a user's password, check to see if they can do it themselves first.

Start by clicking on Org Settings in the Thrive CMS. You will land on the Users menu by default.

Now search for the user in question. You can search by Username or their Firstname or Surname. When the user appears in the search results, click on their Username to open their profile.

In the user profile, click on the Admin Details tab, and look for Password Recovery Method. If this says Mobile Verified like the example below, you do not need to reset this user's password. They have set up mobile password recovery so all this user needs to do is press Forgot Password on your app's login screen and they will be able to reset their own password.

Check Password Recovery Method

If however, the user's Password Recovery Method on the Admin Details screen says No Recovery Method Available that means the user has not set up mobile password recovery, and you will need to reset the password for them using the instructions below.

Click on the User Profile tab, then to reset the user's password, click on Reset Password:

Password Reset

Here, you can edit any of the information you require, or you can click on Reset Password to give the user a new password.

On the Password Reset screen you will be asked to enter and confirm a new password for this user's account. It must comply with the following password rules:

  • At least eight characters long
  • Contain an uppercase letter
  • Contain a lowercase letter
  • Contain a number
  • Contain a special character (such as ! ? &)

When you have selected a new password, click on Reset to change the password.

Give user a new password

You will now need to tell this user what you have changed their password to, so that they can log in using the new password. You should also advise the user to use your app's settings screen to choose a new memorable password for themselves.

You may also want to advise the user to use the settings screen to set up mobile password recovery. If they do so, and forget their password again in future, they will be able to reset their own password by pressing Forgot Password on your app's login screen.
