Have Some Fun this Halloween with these Spooktacular App Ideas!

Lots of Thrive customers have a Share Your Photos user generated content section in their apps. But you can always guarantee higher levels of usage and engagement by making this part of your app themed – and changing that theme depending on the time of year.

For the second half of October then, theme your UGC photo gallery for Halloween! Ask your employees to post their photos and videos of their (or their kids’ and pets’) best and scariest Halloween costumes! You could ask them to post photos of how they’ve decorated their homes for Halloween. Or of their scariest pumpkin-carving creations!

You could even have a competition for the post with the most likes or comments to win something like a free coffee or lunch from the staff canteen. Then when you’ve announced the winner, send them their canteen voucher as a PDF to their in-app locker!

People love to cook up sweet treats to give out to Trick or Treaters at this time of year. Add a Halloween Recipes List to your app and post some recipe ideas yourself, or encourage employees to share their own.

It’s as simple as creating a new List using the Thrive CMS, and posting each recipe idea as its own Page inside that List.

Think of this one a bit like a treasure hunt. Each day during the week leading up to Halloween you’re going to hide a pumpkin somewhere in your app (like in the example image below). Replace one of your images in a piece of content to add a pumpkin to it. Make a post in your Latest News section to let your employees know that there will be a new pumpkin added somewhere in the app each day and they need to hunt for it to win a prize!

Simply tell them: when you find the Pumpkin, all you need to do is leave a comment on that page saying Pumpkin Pursuit! or even just a Pumpkin emoji if you prefer! 🎃

Make sure to get rid of yesterday’s pumpkin before posting a new one! Encourage engagement by saying that those who have left a comment on the hidden pumpkin page by the end of the day will be entered into a draw for various prizes. This will depend on the kind of budget you have at your disposal of course, but just like the UGC idea above, even something small like a voucher for a free coffee or lunch from the staff canteen will get your employees participating.
